Candle Care

To get the best out of your candle, please follow our instructions:

Memory Burn

A candle’s first light is called its memory burn. This first impression of your candle sets the boundaries of how it will burn until the wick is gone. An excellent memory burn is essential to stop your candle from creating a tunnel and wasting wax. It’s also the only way to maximise scent throw.

When burning your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2-3 hours or until the top layer of wax melts completely. This will prevent your candle from tunnelling around the wick of your next burn. Avoid burning your candle for longer than 3 hours at a time. Keep away from the wind, children, pets and any flammable items and never leave unattended.

Wick Trimmer

We recommend using a wick trimmer to keep the candle wick trimmed to 5mm to prevent the candle from emitting smoke or the wick from falling into the melted wax. If not trimmed, your candle will smoke, and a “mushroom tip” will form on your wick.

Placement

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

This will always help protect it from discolouration and fading.

Wax Removal / Re-Use

When the wax has melted down to 5mm, fill the jar with boiling water leaving space at the top, let it sit for a few minutes to melt the remaining wax, which will float to the surface. While warm, use a fork to dislodge and lift the wick sticker from the centre.

Once it has cooled completely, strain the water and discard the wax in the bin, as the wax will clog a drain. Scrape away any leftover wax, and use warm water and soap to clean. Once dry, your jar can be reused and repurposed!

Avoid burning longer than 3 hours

No it's not essential. You can use plain old scissors.

Absolutely! Follow the instructions and wash away the wax. Once you've emptied the wax out of it you can use it for whatever you like.
